"The Arborealists" à Mottisfont Abbey

19 September - 15 November 2015

Artists have been fascinated by trees for centuries - the way that they punctuate the landscape, both concealing and revealing the view beyond; and their complex, interwoven structures.

A new group of contemporary artists called the Arborealists are now adding fresh work to this tradition, creating a wide range of paintings, prints, photographs and sculpture all about trees. They are creating a new show just for Mottisfont, which is home to many fine ancient trees, including the largest and oldest plane tree in Britain. There will be intricate pencil drawings of root systems, gorgeous autumnal colours, and beautiful natural sculpture.
